ARTS TO END VIOLENCE is an annual art contest and festival in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. It is run by the Crown Heights Community Mediation Center. The Center is home to anti-violence programs Save Our Streets Crown Heights (S.O.S.) and Youth Organzing to Save Our Streets (YO S.O.S.).

The pieces here are a sample of submissions to the 2013 contest. Check back for new pieces through mid-May!

In addition to being a contest, Arts to End Violence is a series of community events that bring together everyone in the Crown Heights community and beyond. Schools and students, businesses, community residents, and neighborhood organizations all participate, celebrating creativity and community mobilization and speaking out against violence. Please join us at the upcoming Arts to End Violence events this year, and submit art next year!

UPCOMING EVENTS:

May 18, 2013: Kingston Avenue Festival. Kingston Avenue between Pacific Street and St. Marks Avenue. 12-5 p.m.

May 23, 2013: Gallery opening art showcase at the Ron Taylor Gallery, 1160 St. Johns Place. 6:30-9 p.m.
